Volunteering Opportunities

There are lots of different ways you get involved at Stroud Valleys Credit Union, here is a list of our open vacancies. If you do not find a position that suits you, please do not hesitate to contact a member of our team through our contact page to find an option that does.

A member of our cashiers team-

This role is part-time with flexible hours.

The day-to-day duties include:

  • Staff the branches/collection points.

  • Taking in the savings.

  • Guide members completing forms.

  • Enrolling new members.

Cashiers provide a strong link between the Credit Union and its members, as well as providing a front line service.

Social Media Manager-

This role is part-time with flexible hours, initially to the end of September. However, they are welcome to stay on and volunteer for other positions within our business.

Our social media manager will get involved in all aspects of the Credit Union and its members to give and collect content for our posts.

The day-to-day duties include:

  • Take leads on the development of a social media strategy for our Credit Union and to organise promotional campaigns to raise awareness of our union and its services.

  • To maintain the Stroud Valleys Credit Unions website.

  • To create regular communication bulletins to our members, volunteers and anyone else who is interested with the credit union.

  • To maintain a presence on social media including Facebook and Twitter.


This role is part-time and can be done from home. The Treasurer is expected to become a director of the Credit Union which involves meeting with the rest of the board one evening per month.

Training will be given.

The day-to-day duties include:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the credit union’s financial accounts.

  • Responsible for data inputting, share (savings) withdrawals and loan payments.

What are Stroud Valleys Credit Union looking for?

We are looking for an applicant who could have experience in financial management or alternatively be part qualified and looking for responsibility and future career development.

Experience in financial services is desirable but would not be essential to someone keen to adapt their current knowledge to credit union regulations and practices.

  • The applicant must own a computer or secure access to one.

  • The applicant must live or work locally.

  • The applicant will have to give details regarding references.

  • The applicant will be required to have a criminal record check before starting.
